How HPLC Purity Figures Appear on Ascend Reports
All Ascend Bio Labs products are sold strictly for in vitro and laboratory research by qualified adults. They are not drugs, foods, cosmetics or supplements, are not for human or veterinary use, and have not been evaluated by the FDA.
What do the numbers on an Ascend Bio Labs report actually say? Here is a short, worked walk-through of figures already published on the COAs page, to go with our guide HPLC and Mass Spectrometry Purity Testing Explained.
Purity and assay side by side
| Product (tested vial) | HPLC purity | Assay |
|---|---|---|
| Retatrutide 10 mg (Vanguard) | 99.58% ± 0.18% | 10.44 mg |
| BPC-157 10 mg (Vanguard) | 99.09% ± 0.18% | 11.34 mg |
| CJC-1295 no DAC 10 mg (Vanguard) | 99.46% ± 0.18% | 9.11 mg |
| Tirzepatide 30 mg (Vanguard) | >99.80% ± 0.18% | 28.46 mg |
Reading the table
Purity is the share of the detected material that is the target peptide. Assay is the measured amount in the vial. They are different questions, so a vial can have very high purity and an assay slightly above or below its label, because the powder also contains counter-ions and moisture and every measurement has uncertainty.
Two labs, one product
The retatrutide 10 mg product has two independent reports. Vanguard Laboratory measured 99.58% purity by HPLC-UV/VIS, and Freedom Diagnostics measured 99.433% by HPLC-UV with mass spectrometry. The small difference is normal; methods and instruments differ. Two independent laboratories reaching a similar result is useful evidence.
Where to look
Open the COAs library, click a thumbnail and find the purity line near the top of the page. Then compare the compound, strength and lot with your product. For a refresher, read how to read a COA.
A caution about comparing numbers
It is tempting to rank products by purity percentage, but the figures are only comparable when the method is similar and the compounds are of similar size and complexity. A 99.1% result for a 15-amino-acid peptide and a 99.8% result for a 39-amino-acid peptide say different things about the difficulty of the synthesis. Use the numbers to confirm that a product meets your own specification, not to crown a winner.
